My cousin and I saw A Tribe Called Quest perform on Monday at Mansion (South Beach) for their reunion tour and that shit was real dope (first time i ever saw them perform live). Funk Flex was there and spun for a little bit but i missed his set got there late. i missed the first 5-10 minutes of the show cause the bouncer at the door said "no cameras" so i had to walk back to the car. There really wasn't alot of people probably b/c they hardly promoted it (i found out about the show at 11:30 pm and got there at 12:30).

All of Tribe was there (yes even Jairobi) they mostly performed joints from the first 3 albums and only did "Find A Way" from The Love Movement and one song from Beats, Rhymes and Life. Ali Shaheed Muhammad (why was he using cd turntables?) performed some joints off his new album and Phife did some new joints as well. Special guest was Busta Rhymes (and Spliff Starr) and he came out for "Scenario" (i was hoping they were gonna perform "Oh My God" but they didn't) and he then performed 2 of his own joints. Man, when Busta came out the crowd went crazy. Dude has so much energy you can see it.

Then afterwards Busta got all sentimental and talked for almost 15 minutes about how when he was beefing w/ Charlie Brown, he (Busta) would go to Tribe so he can feel like he was in a real group. then he said he was the unofficial 5th member of Tribe. then he started saying "I Love You" to each member of Tribe then they all hugged.

Then Afrika from Jungle Brothers came out and Q-tip started getting all sentimental. he was talking about how Afrika and him would skip class and just go rhyme and how in the beginning they didnt do rap for the money but for the love of it. and if it wasnt for Afirka q-tip wouldnt be here (Afrika aslo gave Q-tip his name). Then Afrika told another story of when they were growing up and of course they all hugged again. Then they bounced.

After 3 minutes they came back out for an encore performance. which they then performed "Check the Rhime", "Award Tour" and "Electric Relaxation". my cousin was waiting for them to perform "God Lives Through" but they just played the beat and ended it like that. damn another dope concert i was privelaged to see. The only negative was the sound was kinda shitty at times and that this broad in in front of me almost burned me w/ her cigarette while she was dancing. if she did i was gonna hit her w/ my bottle of corona straight up.

As we walk back to the car we see this girl carrying some glowing shit, and i walk up to her and ask "what the hell are you holding" she said there Light Cubes. she asked if i wanted them. and i took all 144 light cubes (i gave the other half to my cousin) i cant pass up free shit. i dont know what the hell im gonna do with them. when we were leaving we saw lesbians kissing (hot).

I went to Halloween Horror Nights last Saturday and it was straight. people grabbing you in haunted houses, jumping out of walls and shit only problem was long ass waits in lines and expenisve ass food/drinks. i spent $7 for a bag of chips and a hot dog. i asked the lady if water was free she looked at me like i was new. back to the actual events people that i didnt even know were holding on to me while walking through the haunted houses. it would've been ok if these broads were hot, but one of the girls looked like she was a cafeteria lady at some elementary school.

I met Wordsworth last week on my way to The Roots/Slam Bush show on South Beach. bugged out thing is when we were driving to south beach we were listening to his album. after the Wordsworth encounter guess who i see coming out of a limo.....muthafuckin' Kimbo Slice. dude is bigger than your family and his beard is scray in person. fast forward we get into the club. place was packed w/ broads everywhere and as we head over to the main room i see Simon Rex in the VIP section chillin w/ like 8 model bitches. Flava Flav was out there too rocking these big ass glasses minus the viking helmet.

When we finally get to the main room there had to been at least 2500 people there. we missed the actual Slam Bush event, but we got there in time for the dreadful opening acts. one of the acts was Wreckonize (Mtv Battle winner) he was ok but the people just wanted to see The Roots.

After the weak opening acts The Roots came out w/ special guest Jill Scott (Young Rome where my cd at killa). the crowd went crazy. they performed for almost 3 hours and each member of the group had their own solo. my personal favorite was the ?uestlove solo it was donkey kong type bananas. it cost $25 to get in but it was worth it.

In the past 3 months i have seen Nas, Brand Nubian, and The Roots. out the 3 performaces the Nas has got to be one the best shows i've been to since the Spitkicker Tour in 2000. The artists that performed in that show were: Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek, Pharoahe Monch w/ Mr. Complex as his hype man, Biz Markie, Common, and De La Soul.

Big Shout Out to Brand and Squeak. friday was the dope. destination hard rock casino to meet up w/ some people. our drive there Squeak comes up w/ his new "gangsta rap monkier" (CHOCOLATE ICE). Chocolate Ice isnt just a name he states. it means many things like "damn this pickin boogers blog is chocolate ice."

fast forward, we then hit up a casino and went to this broads room to get some free liqour got kicked out 10 minuntes later. we leave the casino to cop some MD20/20 (the morning i woke up my mouth tasted like bum sex).

hit up my cousins gaming store we watch the first 10 minutes or so of the warriors and snatch we leave after we finish only the top rated bum wine that we just purchased. we then head over to the casino to go play bingo but decided not too. we then put all our money that we had left which totaled up to $6 and some change.

we play a 5 cent slot machine and lose all but 26 cents. squeak decides to put in the rest, i press the buttons and BOOM $63.29 (we cash out right there). brand starts yellin "where them dollars at" and people proceed to look and stare. we get the money go straight to the bar and buy drinks high fives all around.

then we hit up the club inside the casino (which Brand labeled the CLU) got in free cause it was already late as shit. as we get there some broad that looked like Avril Lavigne tricks Squeak into buyin some shots. after 15-20 minutes at the club we bounce. we then head over to dennys and i have a all american. that night we were the Kings of Kings...CHOCOLATE ICE

Hurricane Frances was weak. im glad we didnt get hit hard but the news made it sound like it was gonna blow away fuckin buildings. only bad thing that happened to us was our papaya tree got knocked down cause of the wind. being stuck inside the house for two or three days was boring as shit all i did was take naps, eat cereal and watched dvd's. i had to get out the house so i went to my cousins store and just watched Beat Street and the bootleg version of Harold and Kumar (classic shit). i basically did the same shit at the store that i did at home, but at least it was a change of venue. all i saw was alot of leaves and branches on the streets nothing serious. i just hope Hurricane Ivan doesn't come through, cause it looks like its gonna be a category 45 hurricane by Sunday.

The bugged out thing is how are you gonna tell thousands of kids that waited for more than three hours gettin rained on that they not gettin in. a couple of kids started throwing bottles at cops and chants of "fuck the police" started to erupt.

Then the line started to disperse people were either going home or lookin for a better place to try and see the show. i started to walk back to my aunts house but i decided if i cant watch it i guess i can just listen. then all of a sudden they played NY state of mind for like 5 seconds. i start to walk towards the entrance to hear better. you can hear the crowd inside cheering, but the crowd that didnt get in was like fuck we missin out. then the beat stops.

all of a sudden they played the beat once again and all of a sudden at least 200 hundred kids bum rushed the show. jumping over fences cops couldnt do shit. i knocked down this girl (i helped her up and apologized) but kept running towards the venue.

we got in threw the back of the consession stand. dude in front of me couldnt get over the other fence so i had to push him over. then when i jumped over but my foot got stuck and i could feel a fuckin stampede behind me heading towards me. somebody then pushed me over i busted my ass, but all i remember is someone pickin me up and saying "you aight? son" i just replied "yeah, lets go" and ran inside everybody started cheering that we got in shit was crazy. there was about a 10 minute hiatus due to the bum rush. but nas was like just let these devils (cops) do what they have to.
